CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT MARTIN K SMITH

Chief Master Sergeant Martin K. Smith is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 5th Bomb Wing, Minot Air Force Base, N.D. As the wing's senior enlisted leader, Chief Smith is the primary advisor to the installation commander and on all matters concerning the health, welfare, morale, recognition, training, effective utilization, professional development and career progression of the base enlisted force. He represents the commander on numerous base and local agency councils, committees, boards, and at numerous military and civilian functions. In addition, he disseminates the commander's policies to all levels of senior officer and enlisted leadership at America's only dual-wing, nuclear-capable base.

Chief Smith grew up in Florissant, Mo. and entered the Air Force in June 1982. His background includes various duties in the Aerospace Control and Warning and First Sergeant career fields. His assignments include bases in Florida, Germany, South Carolina, Turkey, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Ohio and Okinawa, Japan. He has deployed in support of Operations Southern and Northern Watch and to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
