CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JOHN L. HOFFMAN JR.

Chief Master Sergeant John L. Hoffman, Jr., serves as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for Air Force Global Strike Command's 91st Missile Wing, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. As the senior enlisted leader, he represents over 1,700 personnel assigned to operate, secure and maintain 150 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), spread across 8,500 square miles of Northwest North Dakota. Chief Hoffman advocates the Wing Commander's organizational goals, objectives and policies to the enlisted corps, ensuring adherence to standards enabling the delivery of lethal, safe and sure ICBMs to support the President of the United States and his Combatant Commanders. The Chief also ensures mission readiness by focusing on effective utilization, qualification training, professional development, morale, welfare and quality of life issues for Wing Airmen and their families.

The Chief hails from Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, graduating Cheltenham High School in 1977 and later joining the Air Force in January 1984. As a career-long civil engineer, he's accumulated a diverse range of contingency war skills and force support experience at all levels of command. Chief Hoffman has had four overseas assignments; Alaska, Korea and Germany twice, along with seven stateside assignments to bases in Alabama, Florida, Texas and Ohio. His deployments have taken him to over 40 countries, supporting wartime and humanitarian operations such as Joint Task Forces: Bravo and Horn of Africa, and Operations: Allied Force, Shining Hope, Provide Comfort, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Willing Spirit. Chief Hoffman holds the Senior Civil Engineer, Airborne and Air Assault ratings.

Prior to his current assignment, the Chief served as Command Chief Master Sergeant, for the Air Force Materiel Command's Aeronautical Systems Center and 88th Air Base Wing, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Chief Hoffman assumed current duties July 13th, 2010.
