Col COLONEL BARRY E. LITTLE

Colonel Barry E. Little is the Vice Commander of the 91st Missile Wing, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. As the Vice Commander, he is responsible for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and security of 150 Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) from 15 remote missile alert facilities dispersed over 8,500 square miles. The Wing provides global deterrence by defending America with the world’s premier combat-ready ICBM force.

Colonel Little was commissioned in 1998 through Officer Training School. His operational experience includes combat mission ready status with the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. He has commanded ICBM units at the squadron and deputy operations group level and deployed at the air expeditionary wing level in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. His staff positions have focused on nuclear force structure planning, global integration and nuclear modernization at the Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Joint Staff and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He is also an Olmsted Scholar graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Nanjing University's Center for Chinese and American studies and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Prior to this assignment, Colonel Little was the Director of Nuclear Modernization and Nuclear Weapons Council in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense Programs at the Pentagon.
