MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. – Airman 1st Class Laura Washer, 5th Operations Support Squadron Radar and Approach Control Air Traffic Controller, monitors the movement of approaching air traffic to the Minot area Sept. 22. Airman Washer and the other ATCs at Minot’s Radar and Approach Control are responsible for the safe and on time operations of nearly 18,000 aircraft per-year and control 4,800 square miles of North Dakota air space. This small team of dedicated professionals is not only responsible for Minot’s B-52H Stratofortress air traffic.
