1st Lt. Jennifer Acevedo Castro, ICBM Combat Crew Commander, 742d Missile Squadron, Hometown: Yuma, Arizona. My mother is my inspiration. At the young age of 15, she had to drop out of school and get a job in order to help support her family. Yet, she loved school so much that she knew she would return to school some day. She went on to get her GED and at the age of 50, she returned to school as a freshman in a community college in Yuma, AZ. She is now pursuing an Associate's Degree in Logistics and hopes to find a job in the same field. My mom is living proof that it is never too late for those who persevere and work hard. Additionally, her selflessness and unconditional support inspire me to do my best in everything I do. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Jessica Weissman)
