Fallen Defenders honored at Minot

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. – Airmen from the 5th Security Forces Squadron paid their respect to their fallen Defender comrades by establishing a Wall of Heroes in their honor. MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Staff Sgt. Kathryn Palm, 5th Bomb Wing Advanced Programs Programs Security Manager, was awarded the Own It Award Nov. 30. She has epitomized the 5th BW commander’s vision of mission ownership by single-handedly revitalizing the Bomb Wing’s Advanced Program office, and has made great strides toward exceeding all Air Force Global Strike Command requirements. Her transformation of the program included the creation of the Wing Standard Operating Procedures for Advanced Programs, three vital program checklists, and the identification and rapid implementation of corrective actions for 39 errors. Additionally, she has expedited three candidates processing with 57 WG to ensure USAF Weapons School timelines were met. Despite her grueling work-load, she has made time for leadership in several base activities as well, including President of the Defenders Association, PTL, and spearheading a Dining-In committee. A “Major” relief for PTSD

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Major, a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder service dog, was adopted and trained by Tech. Sgt. Barbara Mendiola , 5th Force Support Squadron lodging supervisor, following her deployment to Afghanistan in 2006.
