Airfield Management
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Airfield Management is the focal point for all airfield functions. Airfield Management personnel procure, maintain, and produce information on safe operation of aircraft through the national and international airspace system. This information includes flight plans, Flight Information Publications, aeronautical charts and maps, Notice to Airmen, navigational aid status and weather information. Airfield Management provides aircrews with information and services to accomplish pre-flight, en-route and terminal mission planning. They also coordinate with a host of base agencies to secure billeting, messing, refueling, transportation and aircraft maintenance for aircrews, as well as, conducting airfield inspections, coordinating airfield construction activities and wild life management. Finally, Airfield Management oversees the 5th Bomb Wing Airfield Driving Program, which annually trains more than 1,300 drivers to safely operate with airfield environment. 5th LRS Outbound Freight
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th LRS’ Traffic Management Office, Outbound Freight, Packing & Crating section is the focal shipping point for Minot Air Force Base. This 11-member team ensures NWRM, MICAP’S, 2-lvl Maintenance and classified items are packaged, processed and expedited via contracted carriers for all cargo leaving Minot. The Minot Drug Demand Reduction Program
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. – The Minot Drug Demand Reduction Program screens every active duty member and civilian employee to curb the use of illegal drugs further guaranteeing our nation's nuclear response capability. Drug abuse affects not only individual users and the people close to them; it also presents increasing dangers for the workplace. The Air Force Drug Testing Program is designed to deter the use and abuse of controlled illegal substances though a comprehensive program of education, prevention and deterrence, providing scientifically accurate results that are forensically defensible. 5th OSS Intelligence Flight
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th Operations Support Squadron’s Intelligence Flight mission is to provide timely, tailored intelligence support to the 5th Bomb Wing commander, command staff, and aircrews, enhancing mission readiness and ensuring combat execution. The flight of 28 enlisted and 6 officers present intelligence to the 5th BW through briefings, as members of the Intelligence Fusion Cell, Threat Working Group, participating in drafting local exercise intelligence scenarios, and providing direct intelligence support to the 23rd and 69th Bomb Squadrons. 5th MUNS Munitions Storage
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th MUNS Munitions Storage Element consists of 34 Airman responsible for break out and bed down of all conventional explosives arriving at Minot Air Force Base. This comprises bombs, missiles, bullets, egress items and missile field defense assets. They maintain and safeguard 2.1K munitions line items valued at over $113 Million stored in more than 100 munitions storage facilities within the Munitions and Weapons Storage areas. The Centralized Dormitory Management
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Centralized Dormitory Management provides direct residential infrastructure support to 1,200 Airmen for 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing in 16 dormitories valued at $150 million. The CDM staff is responsible for the in and out-processing of newly assigned Airmen. They brief them on Air Force, Command, and Local dormitory policies, regulations, and corrective actions. They are also responsible for training dormitory resident advisors on how to monitor dormitories, resolve any conflicts and ensure residents' safety. Finally, the CDM Team manages Team Minot's Bay Orderly Program by coordinating with 27 First Sergeants to maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of 1,495 dorm rooms. The 5th OSS' Aircrew Flight Equipment
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th Operations Support Squadron Aircrew Flight Equipment section is responsible for all aircrew life-saving, performance enhancement and chemical protective clothing utilized by all 205 aircrew personnel assigned to the 5th Bomb Wing. The AFE aircrew support section ensures all equipment is serviceable prior to each mission and are on-duty for each take-off and landing to correct any aircrew related equipment issues that may arise. The overall purpose of AFE is to protect and sustain human life during flight operations and prepare aircrew and passengers to survive, affect their rescue, and return to duty if forced to abandon their aircraft during an emergency. MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Team Minot recognizes their newest Senior Master Sergeant selects. Please congratulate these outstanding individuals on this especially important milestone in their Air Force Careers. 24 of 166 eligible promotees were selected at a rate of 14.4 percent here. 5th MXS' Repair and Reclamation section
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th Maintenance Squadron's repair and reclamation section has 34 military and civilian technicians who support the 5th Operations Group and 5th Maintenance Group. The section has four areas of responsibility: repair and reclamation, crash damaged or disabled aircraft recovery, wheel and tire, and transient alert. The repair and reclamation section maintains flight control surfaces and systems, landing gear, actuated doors and associated equipment on Air Force Global Strike Command's B-52H Stratofortress fleet. The technicians attend specialized training to maintain their systems. Crash damaged or disabled aircraft recovery is responsible to removing and recovering damaged or disabled aircraft as a result of in-flight or ground mishaps. They maintain specialized equipment such as hoists, lifting bags and vehicles to facilitate aircraft recovery. Wheel and tire manages build-up, repair and storage of fleet wheel and tires assemblies. Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems section consists of 10 personnel responsible for maintaining $18.5 million in vital airfield systems and radar equipment. They ensure accurate and reliable air traffic control communications coverage of 126,000 square miles for 25,000 military and commercial flights annually. They perform maintenance to the National Weather Service's Next-Generation Radar, which provides weather radar data to North Dakota and eastern Minnesota. They also support ground radio and radar systems for the 5th Bomb Wing, 91st Missile Wing, Minot International Airport and the remote Radar Approach Control located at Ellsworth AFB, S.D. The 5th Maintenance Squadron's Electro-Environmental Section
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th Maintenance Squadron's Electro-Environmental Section has 13 technicians who support multiple agencies on Minot Air Force Base to include the 91st Missile Wing, 5th Operations Group and 5th Maintenance Group. They service and repair 19 liquid and gaseous oxygen carts. These carts provide Minot's B-52H Stratofortress fleet with breathing oxygen, essential to high-altitude flight. Additionally, they perform major inspections and maintenance on the 5th Bomb Wing's B-52H aircraft and 91st MW's UH-1 helicopters.
