Youth Programs from Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, participated in the Sprinkling Happiness Project during the month of June.

The Sprinkling Happiness Project is a nationwide community service that aims to uplift people and spread happiness. Diana Nesko, Youth Programs school age coordinator, is the ambassador for Minot AFB.

“Ambassadors are the point of contact for anyone who wants to participate in doing a sprinkling session in the local community,” Nesko said.

Children from the School-Age Program at the Youth Center here held up signs on base that had been shipped from another state that had already completed their project. Signs included sayings such as, “you rock”, “you are a great parent”, and “breathe.”

The SAP youths recently discussed acts of kindness and showing appreciation to others.

“We had positive feedback from the community,” said Nesko. “One person got out of their car and all teary-eyed told us that she thought we were doing such a wonderful thing. That just made my heart melt, and it made me want to show appreciation and kindness to our community members more often.”

Many positive comments were left on social media pages that represent various Minot AFB groups. With such a high impact, Nesko wants to host this project again.

“We plan to do this event next summer and after talking, we thought we could make it a bigger event where it can be open to anyone who wants to participate, not just the children,” she said.
