School Liaison Officer

Welcome to the Minot Air Force Base School Liaison Officer (SLO) website - your clearinghouse for all matters related to K-12 military child education in and around Minot, North Dakota!

As SLO, one of the roles is to improve the transitional support for the school age children of Minot AFB. In order to accomplish this mission, the establishment of long-lasting partnerships between local school administrators and base leadership is vital. Additionally, advocating for the needs of military children, increasing awareness of the unique needs of military children, and providing a process to address and resolve K-12 military issues are also duties associated with the SLO.

This SLO website may be new to Minot, however, the concern for military child's educational opportunities has been a high profile issue for years. As we continue to build this website, we are asking all visitors to make suggestions on how to improve it, and most importantly, to get involved in the ongoing conversation about how to improve military child education throughout Minot Air Force Base and the surrounding communities.

Military members and their families, public and private school personnel, home-schooled students and providers, and anyone else who has an interest in military child education are encouraged to explore this website. The website contains a variety of topics dealing with military child education and answers to many questions related to everything from the Interstate Compact for Educational Opportunities for Military Children to home school laws in North Dakota. For those who do not find the information they seek, please contact the Minot Air Force Base School Liaison Officer David Klassy @701-723-1447 or DSN 453-1447. His office is located at the 5th Mission Support Group building at 168 Missile Avenue, Minot AFB, ND 58705-5003. You can also email him at david.klassy.1@us.af.mil

Hopefully you will find this website beneficial and we encourage you to visit often and provide any necessary feedback. Welcome to Minot!
