CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JOHN A. BURKS

Chief Master Sergeant John A. Burks serves as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for Air Force Global Strike Command's 91st Missile Wing, Minot AFB, North Dakota. As the senior enlisted leader, he represents more than 1,700 personnel assigned to operate, secure and maintain 150 Minuteman III ICBMs, spread across 8,500 square miles of Northwest North Dakota. Chief Burks advocates the Wing Commander's organizational goals, objectives and policies to the enlisted corps, ensuring adherence to standards enabling the delivery of lethal, safe and sure ICBMs to support the President of the United States and his Combatant Commanders. The Chief also ensures mission readiness by focusing on effective utilization, qualification training, professional development, morale, welfare and quality of life issues for the Wing's Airmen and their families.

CMSgt Burks was raised on United States Army installations around the world and entered the Air Force in July of 1989 as a Ground Radar Systems Apprentice. Over his career, he has served Airmen in a myriad of technical and leadership roles ranging from Maintenance Technician, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Combat Engineering and Installation Team Chief, Squadron Superintendent, Directorate Superintendent, Numbered Air Force Staff, Group Superintendent and Command Chief Master Sergeant.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Group Superintendent, 432d Maintenance Group, Creech AFB, Nevada.
